Arlene Stahnke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home - Medford on Jan. 6, 2026.
Arlene V. "Tody" Stahnke, 93, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at Colonial Health Services in Colby while under the care of North Shore Hospice.

Tody was born May 23, 1932 to Sidney and Flora (Coon) Dawson. She grew up in Athens.

She married Marvin Stahnke and together they had ten children. They farmed in the town of Goodrich. Marvin preceded her in death on August 20, 1981.

Arlene enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning; but her most cherished time was spent with her beloved family. As her family grew, she loved holding the babies as new life was always so precious to her.

She is survived by her children, Jerry (Sharon), Dan (Vicky), Sharon Stahnke, Darla (Pat) Gilles, Laurie (Tim) Boneske, Randy (Ann), Todd (Cari), Terry (Jane); son-in-law, Gary Schmitz; daughter-in-law, Gail Stahnke; a sister, Darlene Jones-Abegglen; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marvin; a son, Duwayne; daughter, Barbara Schmitz; son-in-law, Sonny Pilbeam; grandson, Trask Stahnke; and nine siblings.

As per Tody's wishes, no services will be held. She will be buried next to her husband Marvin at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II in the spring.

The family would like to thank the Colonial nursing home, Colby and Northshore hospice for the wonderful help, compassion and support they provided in Tody's final days.
