Armando D. Cruz, Sr. of San Antonio, formally of Uvalde passed away on August 29, 2024, at his residence.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 1 p.m.,followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing Estes-Knowles Mortuary. 

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetary.

Mr. Cruz was born on August 7, 1933 to Otila (Villarreal) and Juan Esteban Cruz.

On May 13, 1950, he married Luz Herrera in Uvalde,Texas. They were married for 68 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Alcorta and husband, Ruben of San Antonio, Texas, and Mary Elsie Morales and husband, Catarino Morales of Uvalde; son, Armando D. Cruz Jr. and wife Amanda of San Antonio;  11 grandchildren, Phillip Padilla, Amanda Lira, Jacob Alcorta, Daniel Alcorta, Miranda Matta, Catarino Morales III, Jennifer Swierc, Adrianna Cruz, Alejandro Cruz, Alonzo Cruz, and Adelina Cruz; and 17 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cruz is preceded in death by his, wife; daughter, Otila Padilla; son in law, Raul Padilla; four brothers; and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Alcorta, Daniel Alcorta, Alejandro Cruz, Alonzo Cruz, Isaac Matta, Armando Pargas, and honorary pallbearer Phillip Padilla.
