Armando Milo

Armando Milo passed away with all his beloved family by his side on December 4, 2019 at the young age of 83. He will be remembered as an extraordinary caring and giving father, a devoted Catholic, and a proud member of the United States Marines who proudly served from 1959-1965. Armando was born on July 10, 1936 in Toluca, Mexico to Miguel Arrellano Milo and Augustina Flores Milo. Armando grew up in Laredo, Texas and attended St Augustine Knights High School where he picked up the love for basketball. While playing for the Knights he became an all-city star basketball player and received many honors. He then attended Laredo Junior College and then went on to Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas where he studied Business and Finance. Armando also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was station at Camp Pendleton, California where he was Honorably discharged as Lance Corporal in 1965. Armando then moved to San Antonio and began his career with Blazer Financial Services (Great Western) Parent Co. Armando began his career as a collector sometimes having to go door to door. He was promoted several times and eventually was promoted to Supervisor and managed several offices throughout the South Texas region. Armando's district was one of the top performing districts in the Company which included offices across the country. He worked for Blazer for 35 years. Armando then was talked out retirement due to his success and old friend contacted him about getting back into the workforce and a position with Laredo National Bank as Vice President of Retail Lending, Overall Armando worked in the Banking and Financial Industry for more than 45 years. In retirement Armando still enjoyed being very active by playing basketball at the local gym and several leagues, he also was a very good pool player and played in several leagues on his own and with family. He also was very caring and giving by donating to several organizations such as the Wounded Warriors Project, Humane Society, and ASCA Foundation. He cared for and fed animals(cats) in the neighborhood and owned a dog of his own named Max. Armando was one of the founding members of St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church as well as an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very active in the church and involved in CYO sports by coaching his children in basketball and baseball. Armando was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Mike Milo Jr. and Robert "Beto" Milo. Armando is survived by his daughter, Jocelyn Pope Milo; sons, Armando Milo Jr., Mark Milo and wife Michele and Derek Milo, and wife Tyler Kouri, granddaughter, Alyssa Milo; and numerous nieces, nephews and life-long friends. The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Porter Loring Mortuary North. ROSARY SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22 2019 7:00 P.M.
