Arnold David Geiersbach passed away peacefully Sunday, April 20, 2025 working on a puzzle, his very favorite thing to do. He was 87 years old. Arnold was born on October 5, 1937 in Munger, Michigan, the son of the late John and Eda Geiersbach.
Arnie was a sweet, kind, goofy and loving person. He spent 64 years married to the love of his life, Katheen. They would spend summers taking trips, sometimes to Florida, sometimes to places around Michigan but they were happy as long as there was somewhere to swim. He spent countless hours doing puzzles and telling you interesting things he learned throughout the week. Whether it was his children, grandchildren or his orange cat he always made sure they knew that they were his best favorite thing.
Arnie was never a disciplinarian when his children were growing up, and even softened with age. HIs grandchildren could get away with anything as long as grandma wasn’t around. But when she was around he’d often hear the refrain, “Arnold!” while sneaking out to do work in the garden. He was especially proud of his raspberries.
He worked at GM in the foundry for 25 years and was retired for 31. He enjoyed serving in the Sts. Peter and Paul choir and was a member of the Michigan Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Arnold is survived by his daughter Ann Marie (Terry) Kalkman; his grandchildren Kyle (Cassie) Kalkman, Tobin (Katie) Kalkman, Piper (Maurice) Williams, great grandson Jack Williams; two brothers, two sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Arnold was preceded in death by his loving wife Kathleen, his sons Greg and Glen Geiersbach, five brothers and three sisters.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
