Arnold Slack Obituary

Odessa - Arnold Cecil Slack, 98, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025. Born January 13, 1927, in Louann, Arkansas, Arnold was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a devoted Master Mason of Fellowship Lodge for over 50 years. He was honored with the 32° KCCH and 33° Inspector General Honorary in the Scottish Rite and was a committed member of the Shriners.

Arnold retired from Gulf Oil Corporation after 36 years and was known for his legendary brisket, which he generously shared to support his lodge and community.

He is survived by his daughters Kim (Larry) Sears, Sandy (Warren) Lopata, and Nancy (Max) May; grandchildren Ashley Sears, Josh Sears, Paige (Jay) Derington, Jackson Lopata, Luke Lopata, Grace Lopata, Darren May, and Kayla Davidson; and great-grandchildren Zereniti Sears, Clay and Taylor Derington, Alexia Davidson, Bryson Davidson, and Asher Villa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Erma Gean Slack.

A viewing will be held September 11 from 6-8 PM at Andrews Corgill Funeral Home. Graveside services with military and Masonic honors will follow on September 12 at 10 AM at Andrews County North Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Gutierrez, Josh Sears, Jack Derington, Clayton Derington, Warren Lopata and Luke Lopata.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arnold's honor to elpasoscottishrite.org and shrinersodessa.com.
