Arthur "Art" Whittington Obituary
Mr. Arthur “Art” Farrell Whittington, 94, of Americus, passed away on October 27, 2025, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. William Torrance officiating.
Mr. Whittington was born May 24, 1931, in Midland City, AL to Horace Greeley and Lissie Tomlin Whittington. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. Mr. Whittington loved football, especially University of Georgia and the University of Alabama. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Ray Britt.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Janice Whittington of Americus; three children, Curtis Whittington and his wife, Cathy of Jacksonville, FL, Susan Cheever and her husband, David of Eagle Mountain, UT, and Johnny Nolan and his wife, Kathy of Montezuma, GA; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Patsy Spear of Milledgeville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org
