“Jerry” was born in Chicago, IL on December 8, 1934 to the late Frank and Helen (nee Baker) Becka. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Becka and Mary Barclay. He graduated from Chicago Vocational School (CVS) and later served in the US Army during the Korean War. He returned from Korea in 1956 and married the love of his life, Catherine, on Nov 24th of the same year. Jerry and Catherine raised their 3 children, Jerry, Mike, and Julie, in the Roseland neighborhood and later Dolton, IL. He served as a member of the Chicago Fire Dept. for over 20 years, earning the rank of a Lieutenant.
In 1984, Jerry and Cathy made Frankfort, IL their home where Jerry took much pride in creating a beautiful home and outdoor space to entertain family and friends. Many Easter egg hunts were held and countless bowls of pasta were enjoyed there over the years.
In his adult years, Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. In 1970 he started going on an annual fishing trip to Northwest Ontario with his brother Frank. Over the next several decades he brought many friends and family, including all three of his children and several of his grandchildren who all share his love of nature.
