Mr. Arthur James Bevel Jr. of
Tampa, FL passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue,
Tampa, FL 33606 with Reverend Prentiss Davis, officiant/eulogist. The interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea Street,
Tampa, FL 33610.
Arthur James Bevel, Jr was born on December 12, 1945, to Arthur James Bevel, Sr., and Priscilla Shepherd Bevel. Shortly after Arthur Jr.'s birth, his biological father passed away. Later, Jr. became a blessing and a joy to the union of Willie Alfred and Priscilla Green, who preceded him in eternal rest, along with his brother, Larry D. Green, and sister, Carolyn Ann Wilson. Jr. was affectionately known by many names: June Bug, Uncle Jr., Deacon Jr., AJ the DJ, Daddy Jr., JB, Cousin Jr., Honey Bunny, and Candyman, and he received them all with sincere love.
Arthur was Ordained as a Deacon on May 20, 2000, by Bishop Francis S. Davis, Sr. of The General Assembly Church of The Firstborn, Inc. Deacon Jr. embraced his calling as a Deacon and took it very seriously. Our dear Deacon was loved by everyone he met, because to know him truly was to love him.
Deacon Jr. leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with: his loving and devoted siblings, Alfreda Hunter, Katherine Davis, Grace Green, Linda Williams, Marian Bennett (Willie), Sheila Scott (Harold), Michael Green (Loretta), and Willie Green Jr. He is also remembered by his compassionate nieces and nephews, Pamela Caruthers, Stanley Wilson (Rana), Christina Smith (Torium), Priscilla Conyers (John), Kenneth Hunter (Yolanda), Marvina Mathis, Kamishaa Hough, Bennetta Simmons (Larry), Edward Bellenger (Gina), Tiffany Williams (Riqui), Tyronn Green, Joshua Green, RaShawn Williams, De'Vanie Williams-Peterson (Felecia), Brian Brady, Dana Daniel (Jarrett), Ke'Andra Gatlin, Ashley Gatlin, Tristan Green (LeTasha), Steve Reed Jr., Cameron Southhall, Alyssa Franklin (Dre), Willie Green III, Zachary Green, and Terri Devine; and a host of amazing grandnieces and grandnephews.
Deacon Jr's memory will also be embedded in the hearts of: his aunt, Pastor Annie Jackson; and all his loving cousins, family, and friends in Live Oak, Lake City, Jacksonville, Palatka, Tampa, and Texas. Special thanks to The General Assembly Church of the Firstborn, Inc. and Family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave.,
Tampa, FL 33606 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
