Arthur Basil Burgess was born in London, Ontario Canada on August 24, 1943, to Basil and Lillian Burgess. In 1952 he, along with his parents and two younger sisters, Virginia and Linda, and brother, Brian, emigrated to Flint Michigan where his father found employment in the auto industry. His formative years were spent in both Flint and Lapeer where he grew to love all the outdoor activities that Michigan offers. Upon graduation from high school in 1961 he joined the U.S. Army where he spent the next 20 years bravely serving our country. His Army career took him to France, Germany, Vietnam, and Denmark as well as numerous posts in the U.S. His combat achievements include the Bronze Star. He retired in 1981 and went on to a second career in the food industry where he retired from Kroger as a meat market manager. His love of the outdoors continued through the years and he eventually made his way from the Denver area to the beautiful mountain town of Buena Vista, Colorado where he has enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and puttering for the past 9 years. He passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2025, with his wife of 45 years, Roberta, by his side.
He is also survived by his children, Anne-Marie, Molly (Joe) and Justin (Christina) as well as 4 grandchildren, Jade (Casey), Keianna, Carter and Katherine.
