Dr. Arthur P. Heliotis

Dr. Arthur P. Heliotis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend has died.

Born in the town of Georgitsi, Sparta to the late Peter and Sophia Heliotis, Dr. Heliotis emigrated to the United States in 1960.

Always the dedicated student and fueled by his passion for learning, Dr. Heliotis excelled academically as he pursued his goal of becoming a physician.

After completing his residency at Nassau Hospital on Long Island he established his private practice in Internal Medicine on East Avenue in October 1982.

For the last forty-three years Dr. Heliotis' dedication, sincere compassion, care and concern became his trademark. It was his honor and joy to help all those whose lives he touched. He was never too busy to answer a call, arrive early or stay late, give advice or just lend a sympathetic ear. These qualities, not often found today, endeared him to his many patients and colleagues. He truly was the best of medicine.

When not working, Dr. Heliotis had many interests. He loved to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren whom he loved dearly as well as extended family. Regular family visits to Cape Cod, where fond memories were made, brought joy and offered a chance to "recharge the batteries", as he so often said. In addition, Dr. Heliotis was a gourmet cook, avid gardener and history buff. He enjoyed reading, travel and was knowledgeable in many areas. Indeed, a true Renaissance man.

Dr. Heliotis is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maria, sons Peter and Nicholas, Daughter in law Ashley, grandchildren Thano and Emme, sister Anne, brother-in-law Dennis, nephew George and wife Dawn, niece Nicole and husband Steve, great nieces Zoe and Natalie, great nephew Dean, goddaughters Catherine, Nicole and Patricia, godson Alexander, cousins and aunts. We are all grateful for our cherished and long friendships with Tony D. Ralph and Tony I.

A wake will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 3pm to 8pm at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. The Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 PM during the wake. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 10am at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Stamford, CT. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
