Arthur Hurwitz, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

October 26, 2025

Just before dawn's first light, Arthur Hurwitz, 95, passed away in the privacy and dignity of his beautiful home, his sanctuary, in the community of Ponte Vedra Beach, what he called "the best seven (7) miles in Florida," enveloped by an air of tranquility and calm, and devoid of pain, disorientation, or illness, for all of which his loved ones are eternally grateful.

Born to first generation parents, Sarah & Sidney, in Worcester, MA, where he was raised, Arthur, or Curly or Curls, as he affectionately was known, enjoyed a splendid childhood, together with older brother, Bob, and with who remained lifelong friends, Gene "Rosie," George "Gig," and Bennett "Beanzie," all of whom, like Curls, now are of blessed memory.

Arthur graduated from University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and later Boston University's Law School.

It was in Boston, thanks to Beanzie, that Arthur was introduced to and quickly fell in love with the radiant Marion "Mickey" Perlstein, who wonderfully felt the same, as they were married in July 1955, with daughter, Lisa, and son, Steven, on the scene soon thereafter.

Arthur's professional opportunity brought the family to Jacksonville in 1960, and in 1964, Arthur opened his own law office, and never looked back, assisting clients with estate planning, pension & profit-sharing, and tax matters.

Arthur was passionate about his Boston Red Sox (the "beloveds" as he used to say), his family, Yiddish culture and language, the stock market, poetry (composed his own), the Great American Songbook, the Southern dialect, golf, and crossword puzzles.

Arthur had an incredible memory, with an aptitude to recall dates, and an impressive vocabulary, a wordsmith extraordinaire. He loved humor, double entendres, and preached against being too serious, too intense.

Arthur was charitable and generous to family and friends and to causes in which he believed, like Hubbard Hourse, Jacksonville (a safe haven for those affected by domestic violence), where he served a term as President.

A great and patient listener, Arthur was cherished as a loyal friend-wise, soft-spoken, and understated, but very much respected and beloved.

Arthur is predeceased by his loving parents, brother, and daughter. Celebrating an extraordinary life well-lived and on his own terms are: son, Steven (Pitzy); grandchildren, Daniel (Louise), Nathan (Sarah), and Patricia; and great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Esme, Levi, and Michael.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, October 30, at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082. A livestream is available through Ponte Vedra Valley's website www.pontevedravalley.com.

Donations to Hubbard House, Jacksonville (HubbardHouse.org) or to the charity of your choice are welcome.

May Arthur's memory be for a blessing.
