Arthur D. Husher, 78, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Carlyle Healthcare Center.
He was born in Coles County on October 25, 1946 to Fred and Ruth (Swope) Husher. On June 10, 1973, he married Bernice Lee in Mattoon, Illinois and she survives.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Bernice Husher of Centralia; Art is also survived by his two children: Arthur Husher, Jr (Anjinett) of Centralia and Marian Lee Frankel and husband Dan of Dix, Illinois; granddaughter, Amy Frankel of Dix; a sister: Lodema Husher of Paris, Il; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth Husher; a sister, Rogene Grissom, a brother, Delbert Husher and and infant sister.
Art served his country in the United States Army. He graduated from Lake Land College with his Associate Degree. Art drove a school bus for Wimberly, Beck and Durham buses for 30 years and he worked for Walgreens until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed volunteering at the CCBA Food Pantry and the Centralia recycling center. Art was of the Baptist faith, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centralia, where he drove the church bus.
Funeral Services are set for Arthur Husher on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Roger Randolph officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia with Military Honors accorded at the gravesite by the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and the Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055. In lieu flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Art's Family.
