Arthur Marion Obituary

Arthur Coleman Marion

Feb 29, 1944 - Oct 29, 2024

Arthur "Ottie" Coleman Marion passed away October 29, 2024, peacefully at his home. He was born February 29, 1944, in Surry County to the late Jesse and Frankie Marion.

Ottie, along with his brother Grady, owned and operated Northside Service Station, formerly Northside Texaco, at the corner of Patterson and Indiana Ave. in Winston-Salem for more than 50 years. The workday never ended at the Station. Ottie would make his way to Surry County to the family home place where he and his brothers and sisters grew up working in tobacco. Through the years Ottie and his brothers continued to enjoy working together on the farm raising cows, cutting hay and tending land. Ottie was loved and will be greatly missed.

Ottie is survived by his children, Ray Wiggins, Cheri Sapp (Randy) and David Marion; grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Colt), Hillary Sapp; great-grandchildren, Addison, Levi, Riley, and River. He is also survived by his brothers, Roger Marion, and Steve Marion; and sisters, Jeanie Searcy, Carol Smith (Ed), and Judy Bullington (Wick); in addition to many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the General Fund at Fairview Church of Shoals, 3692 Quaker Church Rd., Pinnacle, NC, 27043.

Family , This has broke my heart. This man was a jewel to me and treated me like a princess growing up. My dad Charlie Jr Miller and Ottie were close friends. Ottie bought the house in Stanleyville I grew up in, and that my dad and mom had built. Dad would take me to Northside as a child and we would hangout half a day with Ottie and Grady. Loved him. Ottie would let me ride up in the car lift while fixing the tire and changing the oil. He was the best! and always a giving person. Dad passed last year so they are united again. I can just see them.. God rest his soul!! Prayers to you all. I´m so sorry. Love you Ottie Marion

Through the years, you and Grady kept us rolling and took care of our vehicles, now David does. You showed great kindness and respect to Adam of which I will never forget and will always be thankful. Rest in peace my friend, you will always be missed ........ Dale, Terri, and Adam Nunn
