Mr. Arthur Emmet Michaelsen, age 95, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 7, 1929, to Milton and Pearl (Johnson) Michaelsen; and married the former Donna Erickson on December 2, 1950.
Arthur served his country in the U.S. Navy shortly after World War II in the Aleutian Islands. In his early years, he worked as the caretaker for Camp Wabaningo and then the Owasippe Scout Reservation. Eventually Art became a journeyman plumber for Meyer Plumbing in Montague, and also at many different factories and construction sites during the years. He really enjoyed singing and performed in the PTA Showboat back in the 1970s, where he sang the song "If I Were a Rich Man" from "Fiddler on the Roof" and the song "Candyman." Arthur will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors: his wife of 73 years, Donna Michaelsen; daughter, Linda (Terry Rice) Michaelsen; grandchildren: RaShonda (Brian Spencer) Landis, Emily Zack, Rachel (Rory) Baatz, Christopher (Danyell) Michaelsen, Starr (Michael) Tremore, Max Michaelsen, Fritz Michaelsen; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Michaelsen.
Celebration of Life: A Celebration of Arthur's life will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Whitehall American Legion Algot Johnson Post 69 with Jim Tannis officiating.
