Mr. Arthur A. Patchett

Fond memories from Yorkshire, the origins of his family.

A good man and a wonderful neighbor for many years in Westfield. My condolences to his family.

Gentle soul. His "simple man and high thinking" values were difficult to emulate. I was not lucky enough to be a apart of his group at Merck, but immensely respected his easy going attitude and intellect to match it. He was simply a great visionary and irreplaceable. RIP, Dr. Art Patchett.

Arthur Patchett will be remembered for his consistent and generous in support our nonprofit arts organization, Wallkill River Center for the Arts, housed in the historic Patchett House in Montgomery, NY. On behalf of the staff and board of directors, I offer heart felt condolences to Arthur's family and loved ones.

Arthur will be greatly missed by the members of The Musical Club of Westfield. His was always a gracious presence at our monthly concerts.

I worked with Art in my first four years at Merck and learned so much from him! We also published a paper together on Growth Hormone Secretogauge. At that time, one of my computational chemistry colleagues said: "Don't you think Art is like Yoda?" Yes! Yoda, the small in size but extremely powerful and wise legendary Jedi Master! We all liked that nickname for Art. He had been a great mentor for so many of us, like Yoda trained Jedi for over 800 years! We'll miss you, Art. RIP!

Art was a wonderful mentor to this computational chemist when I started at Merck in the 1980s. I will always remember his intense dedication to drug discovery, his collegial but demanding leadership style, and his quicksilver creative thought process. And of course, who could forget him constructing his own 3D molecules with CPK models and then asking me to reproduce them on the computer? He was truly one of a kind!

Arthur- I have great memories of you on Vestry and in the Outreach Committee. Your heart was always with the church and others. Rest in Peace.
