I think of Art as one of my "favorite adopted uncles". He accepted me before he even got me, then I became a teenager still singing in the adult choir and he still accepted me. He will always hold a piece of my heart.

The memory of Arthur will be of someone who was courageous and heroic. Putting the needs of others before himself and representing the best qualities a man and a Veteran can have. He will be missed greatly by all who had the privilege to know him. From myself and his Comrades at VFW Post 4103, We bid you Fair Winds and Following Seas on your Heavenly journey.

I knew Art from the Naval Postgraduate School. Art was in the Mathematics Department and I was in the Operations Reseaech Department, but Art was gregarious and I knew him. In the 1980s I was the Provost and Art was the Faculty Chairman. This gave us many opportunities to disagree on various issues. Art was always thoughtful and wise. I came to consider Art as a friend and a person I had great respect for. David Schrady

I have fond memories of Arthur's visits with his mother and siblings to our home in Brockton MA. He was my mother's cousin. One vivid memory was him playing the guitar and singing at our home prior to a college admissions interview at MIT. As he was five years older than me, I was a little in awe of this older and very intelligent cousin! I only wish distance didn't keep us apart as much as it did. I would have enjoyed getting to know him better personally. Our hearts are very sad for all his family and we send our love.

As a trustee for VFW District 12 Art was my boss and I all way's admired him form a distance. Art was a honest and gentle man at the same time that I come to know and respected. I will miss him so ...

VFW CA District 12 Auxiliary sends our condolences and prayers to Art's family at this time. What a tragic loss. We will miss Art tremendously. He was always supportive of the 6849 and District Auxiliaries. We worked well together. Art, you are missed.

When you rode with Schoenstadt, you rode with a person who spoke softly. But when it came to accounting, he spoke with authority and you better have proof of purchase, words meant not a dime or nickel-worth. He was a caring and loving Educator. Again, he spoke with kindness, except when it came to disbursing district funds. Love you Art.

Art was a great Quartermaster for our District 12. He was always on top of all his reports and was very open to the comrades regarding money issues. He represented the District 12 with the highest respect and was there to help whenever needed. Art will be deeply missed by all. Our prayers will be with his family.
