I´m beyond sad to say goodbye to my Special Friend, Art. From junior high confirmation to high school band trips, to more recent times of more than a decade´s worth of hundreds of emails and texts. He was my confidant and trusted friend, advisor, teacher, so so kind, and a great listener to my loquacious stories! We "discussed" every subject imaginable but high on the list was, of course, music. From his beloved DSO to Beethoven to the Beach Boys and more. Although I can count on one hand the times we met face to face since high school, I considered him one of my best friends. When I think of Art, I think of the old Girl Scout song that says, "Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver but the other´s gold." Art was most definitely GOLDEN! My sincere sympathy to Lee, Karen, and families.

We are so sad to learn of Art's passing. We knew him as fellow Board members of the Dallas Symphony. He was a great soul with whom we always enjoyed visiting. We were honored to know him. Gone too soon.

I had the good fortune to know Art and to call him my friend. We met in law school. Before I knew my wife and got married, Art and I shared an apartment on Sandhurst in Dallas. Art was a great roommate. He was smart and a good conversationalist. One of the things I remember the most about Art from over 45 years ago is his love for his family. He often had an affectionate and interesting comment about his Mom, his brother, and his sister. Art went on to have a remarkable legal career. He was an outstanding attorney. Rest in peace, Art; you ran a good race. John Dunlap, Dallas.
