I knew Mr. Art and Mrs. Doris Snyder when i was a little kid. They lived on a farm in Calvert, Md.. It was called Cedar Farm, I lived on the same farm and they were very nice folks. My name is Carol B. Alexander and I am 80 years old.

I remember going to Uncle Art's farm as a kid with my family, I was 5 and sat on his lap driving the tractor, my mom was concerned but Art said a boy should know how to drive a tractor at that age.. Prayers and Love sent to his family. Mark Hozey Washington Twp NJ

I (unfortunately for me) never met Art in person, however, I spoke with him quite a few times via phone conversations regarding his experiences with the 352nd FG and being the crew chief of Maj. George E. Preddy's last aircraft, P-51D "Cripes A' Mighty" as well as Arts previously assigned P-51B "Snoots Sniper". (He told me that name should have been "Snoots Snipper", but when painted was misspelled). Art was also a barber on the side and so there was a barber pole on the right side of Cripes A' Mighty. Those conversations happened in the mid 1990's and although a long time has passed by, I never forgot him and that it was more important to him to discuss with me where I was at with the Lord than talking of the past of WWII. He sent me a Holy Bible when he sent the photos and negatives that I had borrowed for my research and also had me contact Sam Sox and Joe Noah regarding further info on Major Preddy and the aircraft that he flew. But it has been the sending of the Holy Bible that always triggers my memory of Art Snyder and the fact that I should have met him in person. I went back in the U. S. Air Force in 2001 at the age of 42 because of Art and the men of his generation. Rest in Peace Art.

Goodbye, Art, one I will never forget! First met Art when Sam Sox and I flew to meet him for an interview about his service as crew chief on George Preddy's Mustang, Cripes A'Mighty. The first thing Art did when we met was say a prayer!

Art was one of the finest examples of what a follower of Jesus Christ should strive to be, in times of war and peace. He would never say just "goodbye"... ,it was always " stay vertical and keep looking up". I have been so impressed with his salutation I have adapted it and tell of Art it's source. Hopefully others will adopt it also. God love you my friend... Rest forever in your Savior's embrace...

Mr. Snyder was a kind and generous man that shared his farm with the Principio Creek and Hopewell kids by allowing them to fish in his pond and around the creek. I was one of those youngsters and rode the school bus with the girls. My sympathy to his family during this time. Thank you Mr. Snyder
