Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ray Williams Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 3, 2025.
Artrelle Denise "Neicey" Eubanks was born on December 9th, 1957, in St. Augustine, Florida, to Clifton and Georgia Hancock Eubanks. She graduated from St. Augustine High School and the University of South Florida, ultimately receiving her Master's in Social Work. A dedicated respiratory therapist turned social and community advocate, she was called home at the age of 67 on January 24th, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. Neicey's life was a testament to service, creativity, and resilience, especially as the full-time caregiver to two of her beloved grandchildren.
Born with a passion for helping others, Neicey began her career in respiratory therapy at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Tampa, Florida, where she cared deeply for her patients. Later in life, she pursued a master's degree in social work, embodying her commitment to supporting those in need until her retirement in 2020. A common theme used to describe Neicey by those whose lives she touched, both professionally and personally, was her love of friendship, music, laughter, and community. She had a profound effect on those around her and formed deep and abiding relationships with many of her coworkers and classmates. She will be deeply missed.
Known for her warmth, Neicey found joy in crafting thoughtful, homemade gifts, such as keychains, CDs, decorated t-shirts, and birthday cards, which she shared with friends and family. She also enjoyed spending time watching reality TV, and her curiosity for her heritage led her to explore her deep-rooted Black history in the Eubanks and Hancock ancestry
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Neicey was a gifted poet. Her writing, often reflective of her experiences in the Civil Rights Movement and her religious upbringing, allowed her to share her thoughts on overcoming adversity and advocating for justice.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Georgia Hancock Eubanks, brothers Clifton Eubanks, Gerald Eubanks, Richard Eubanks, and Kenneth Eubanks, and sister Beverly Eubanks DeBerry, along with her niece Tamara L. DeBerry. Neicey's legacy will be carried on by her grandchildren and all those whose lives she touched through her work and kindness. She is survived by her daughter, Arielle Eubanks, and her grandchildren, Nya, Jazmin, Edward Jr., and Sophia. She is also survived by her sisters Sandra Stokes (Nathaniel Sr.) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Marva Saulsby of
Tampa, Fl, and Gail Eubanks of St. Augustine. Her family legacy further includes her nieces and nephews: Clifton Eubanks Jr. (Tanjee), Dwayne Eubanks, Kevin Stokes (Sharonda), Nathaniel Stokes, Jr. (Dr. Tara), Erica Eubanks, Dr. Mikelle Phillips (James) and Keith Eubanks (Ruth) whom she loved and a host of family and friends.
She will forever be remembered for her strength, compassion, and the joy she brought to others.
