Artur Balyan

Artur Balyan was born on May 4, 1963, in Yerevan, Armenia, to Vergine Miqaelyan and Armenak Balyan. From the very beginning, Art carried with him a gentle strength, a deep love for his family, and a quiet determination that shaped the course of his life. On November 13, 1993, Artur married the love of his life, Gaya Petrosyan. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Irina, and later their son, Aram, completing the family that meant everything to him. Art dedicated his career to serving as an electrical engineer responsible for managing the electrical grid, a role that required precision, dedication, and immense responsibility. He often worked multiple jobs, sacrificing long hours and personal comfort to ensure his children had opportunities he dreamed of for them-including the chance to receive an American education. His tireless work and determination paid off as he watched both of his children succeed in the very future he worked so hard to secure. When the time finally came for Art and Gayane to immigrate to the United States, it marked the beginning of a new and long-awaited chapter. Although the transition later in life was challenging, Art faced it with the same resolve and optimism that defined him. He discovered a new passion as a jeweler-a craft he grew to love and take great pride in. He also developed a fond affection for his Cadillac and began to feel at home in Michigan, embracing both the environment and the community around him. Art was dedicated to learning English, practicing daily on Duolingo, and proudly using new words whenever he could-always with a smile. He was calm, peaceful, and steady, with a presence that quietly soothed those around him. To many, he was the calm in the storm. Art cherished his family, his friends, soccer, a good beer, and above all, his beloved homeland of Armenia. His heart remained deeply connected to the place and people that shaped him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vergine Miqaelyan and Armenak Balyan. He is survived by his loving wife, Gayane Petrosyan; his children, Irina Balyan and Aram Balyan; his brother, Garik Balyan and his sister, Zara Balyan. Art's legacy lives on in the kindness he showed, the sacrifices he made, and the love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be eternal.
