Arturo Salinas, 92, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, February 21, 2025. Arturo, or Tury as his friends called him, was born on January 3, 1933.
Tury graduated from Bowie High School in 1951. The month after he graduated, he joined the United States Air Force to proudly serve his country. While Tury was on leave, he met the love of his life, Ruth. They got married on December 28, 1957 and together they raised three daughters.
Tury worked as a bookkeeper while going to college. He attended Texas Western College, which is now UTEP, and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and his teaching certificate. He then went on to earn his Master’s in Guidance and Counseling. He began working at El Paso Independent School District first as a teacher and later as a counselor until he retired in 2002.
Tury loved traveling with his wife, Ruth. He particularly loved going to Las Vegas where he always made sure to play the Wheel of Fortune slot machine. He loved his family and would frequently invite his family on road trips or other fun adventures. Tury loved Mexican food and he loved extra hot chili; the hotter, the better! He particularly loved his two granddaughters and was always available to help them with their homework or to pick them up from school.
