Ashley E. Sabo, age 39, of
Wilmington, DE, joined her Heavenly Father on March 10, 2024.
Born in
Wilmington, DE on February 27, 1985, she was the youngest child of the late David Floyd Jenkins and Margaret Clayton Jenkins.
While Ashley loved sloths, which is an animal associated with one of her medical conditions, her life was full and vibrant. She became sick with lupus as a young woman, but this didn't stop her from earning 2 master's degrees and a second bachelor's degree and excelling at everything she put her heart and mind to.
Ashley was full of purpose and passion and touched many lives in the community. Following the loss of her father, she left the world of finance to pursue a career in healthcare – working as a CNA at Little Sisters of the Poor at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic while studying to become a nurse. Ashley wanted to be the first point of contact in healing – first working as an EMT for St. Francis Hospital before transitioning to become a highly skilled and dedicated nurse in the emergency department. Before becoming a nurse, Ashley was a relentless advocate for students with special needs in the Red Clay Consolidated School District, serving a 5-year term as an elected school board official.
Unwavering love for her family was without doubt. She loved creating memories with her family during the holidays, especially spending Thanksgivings at Rehoboth Beach. Of course, some of Ashley's most prized memories involved driving out to Wyoming to watch bull riding at the Sheridan WYO Rodeo and to traverse the Red Grade to Little Goose Creek, her place of peace and rest.
As her health declined, her dedication to her daughters never wavered. Ashley spent precious snuggle time with her girls where they talked about life each day. She invested her life in those around her and was well loved and respected by all who came to truly know her loyal heart and creative mind. Her presence was deeply felt and will be forever, profoundly missed. Ashley was a woman of great integrity, a mother of boundless love, a devoted daughter, and a trusted friend in ways no words can truly convey.
Ashley is survived by Jonathan Kyer Sabo, her husband of 17 years; 3 daughters, Hayley Elizabeth Kopp (Ridge), Anna Grace Sabo, and Lucy Catherine Sabo. Ashley is also survived by her mother, Margaret Jenkins; brother, Matthew Jenkins (Alicia); nieces, Jolie Jenkins and Sarah Jenkins; nephew, David Jenkins aka "Dude"; brother, Richard Jenkins (Tricia), niece Kelsey Jenkins (Tyler) and nephew Scott Jenkins; and 1 granddaughter, Maddie Kopp. She will also be missed by the countless dogs she fostered and adopted into the Sabo Pack over the years.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church, 7 Mt. Lebanon Road,
Wilmington, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.
