Ashley Eugene Scott, 61, suddenly passed away on 10 March 2024 at his home in Clinton, Utah, as a result of complications from diabetes. He was born on 6 July 1962 to Ashley Eugene Scott and Cindy Ann Coley in Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey.

By age 11, Ashley had lost both of his parents, and then he and his brothers moved to North Carolina and were raised by his maternal aunt and uncle, Rosa and John Solomon Reid. Ashley graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School with a citizenship award and attended the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He was a dedicated lifelong Tar Heel fan. He furthered his education at Weber State University receiving a Master of Science in Criminal Justice and studied Master of Nursing.

During college, Ashley joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then served in the England Manchester Mission for two years. He served in various callings in the church in North Carolina, Virginia, and Utah. Ashley married Melinda Gleed on 28 May 1994 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. Together they raised three daughters Maretta Cindy, Semira Ashanti, and Ashlinn Joan.

Ashley’s nursing career involved hospital patient care in a variety of settings. For the past 25 years he has worked in operating rooms and Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACU), most recently at Holy Cross Hospital-Davis.

Ashley is survived by his loving wife, Melinda Scott, and daughters Maretta, Semira, and Ashlinn. He is also survived by Rosa Street, Patrick Orlando and Donald Christopher Scott, and William Thomas and Doris Annette Reid. He was preceded in death by his parents Ashley and Cindy Scott, John Solomon and Rosa Reid, and his twin brother, Alexander, who died at birth. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Blair L. Gleed, and preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Diane Gleed.

The family would like to thank the administration, doctors and staff at Holy Cross-Davis, Heart and Soul Family Medicine, Tanner Clinic, and Community Nursing Services Home Health.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, 15 March 2024 at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse, Utah, 84075.  The family will meet with friends on Thursday, March 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, March 15th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. 

Interment, Clinton City Cemetery, 813 North 750 West, Clinton, Utah, 84015.
