Ashley Dawn Villanueva

Ashley Dawn Villanueva, 31, of Volga, South Dakota, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls, SD. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 Thursday, January 8, 2025, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings, SD.

Ashley was born on August 8, 1994, in Brookings, South Dakota, to Jose and Kimberly (Wilcox) Villanueva. She grew up in Arlington, South Dakota, where she spent her childhood enjoying swimming, listening to music, dancing, playing with toys, and capturing the beauty of the sky and storms through photographs.

Ashley found happiness in everyday moments. She loved playing video games, shopping, attending rummage sales and auctions, and spending time with those she loved most. One of her greatest joys was time spent with her nephews Sebastian and Tristan and niece Esme, whether watching movies, cheering on football, or rooting for the Green Bay Packers.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Ashley enjoyed listening to Shepherd's Chapel and reading her Bible, finding comfort and peace in her spiritual beliefs.

Ashley is survived by her parents, Kimberly and Jose Villanueva; her siblings, Jennifer and Zachery; grandparents Donald and Jo Recter; uncle, Kevin Wilcox; her nephews and niece, Tristan, Sebastian, and Esme; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Villanueva, Grandpa Wilcox, and Virginia Villanueva.
