Astrid Lyons, 92, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away July 15, 2013, at Heron Pointe Health and Rehabilitation, Brooksville, Florida. Born Astrid Olsen in Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Aaste and Henry Olsen, immigrants from Norway. As a toddler, she was brought to Staten Island and spent most of her life there. Prior to coming to Brooksville, FL, Astrid lived several years in Mill Rift, PA. She was married earlier in life to John A. Brennan, who preceded her in death. She was also, preceded in death by her grandson, Eugene. Astrid later married James P. Lyons, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Lyons, throughout her life, enjoyed working as a nursing assistant in hospitals and Physicians offices on Staten Island and Port Jervis, NY. Each winter she spent happy weeks in Florida and trips to Atlantic City. She loved celebrating Christmas and was affectionately known to bake an assortment of delicious Norwegian cookies and bread and sing Christmas Carols in Norwegian. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent much time with them. Fun loving and caring she will be greatly missed. Astrid is survived by 2 daughters; Patricia Ann Baeza (husband Robert) and Karen Ellen Gallagher (husband William III), of Brooksville, FL; 9 grandchildren; William H. Gallagher IV, John J. Baeza, Jeffrey R. Baeza, Kelly Ann Spear, Kristy Ellen Quattrocci, Scott M. Gallagher, Sean W. Gallagher and Christopher J. Gallagher; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Hospice, Hernando County, FL and the entire staff of Heron Pointe Nursing Facility.
