My greatest sympathy goes to the children of dear Atabek and the family from a childhood cousin that has known Atabek when we were both living in Mauritius. I will always remember your kindness and the love of eating Mauritian food.

Ata - You were my first boss out of college. We ran our first marathons together in 2004, not to mention all the other races and long training runs. We took trips and vacations together. You were a celebrity at our Michigan football tailgates, making your famous and award winning jerk chicken. So many wonderful memories and sad we won't get to make more. Thanks for being a great friend. I'll deeply miss you. Rest easy.

I worked under Ata at NSF for 5 years. He was a fair boss. One particular memory is from one of our Halloween events at work. He allowed me to decorate his office with large black vinyl walls and tons of green glitter, which He was still finding for months. That year he was the Great and Powerful Oz. There may be photos in the work archives but I unfortunately don't have one. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I worked with Ata at NSF and also enjoyed seeing him at races, as we both ran. He was very bright and he also had a great sense of humor.
