Audrey Andrews Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 9, 2024.
DALLAS - Audrey Andrews, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on November 27, 2024, at the age of 66, with her husband, David and daughter, Ashley by her side. After a courageous six-month battle with the return of cancer, Audrey passed away under the compassionate care of Amity Hospice.
Born in Dallas, Texas, to Cora Jane McConnell and Clayton McConnell, Audrey was a woman of strong faith and a deep relationship with God. She was known for her loving and patient nature, her sharp intellect, and her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Audrey was particularly close to her siblings. She was a devoted sister to Victor, her blind brother, with whom she shared many joyful moments and adventures growing up. She was a constant source of love and support for her younger sister, Theresa, with whom she traveled extensively, enjoying trips to the Caribbean and Hawaii, among other destinations.
Audrey's love for travel extended beyond her family, and she often dreamt of visiting Tahiti-a place she always wanted to explore, just as she had a special connection to the sea, enjoying scuba diving and the peace she found on any beach.
A proud alumna of Texas Women's University, Audrey graduated with high honors in accounting and became an expert in her field. Her remarkable skill as a forensic accountant was unparalleled-she could quickly analyze pages of numbers and uncover any discrepancies, earning the affectionate nickname "Rain Man" from her late brother-in-law, Mike. Audrey's pragmatic approach and exceptional attention to detail helped her and her husband, David, successfully run several businesses. Together, they were an unstoppable team.
Audrey and David's love story began in the early 1980's when they worked for Marathon, a shopping center development company. Audrey, in accounting, and David, in architecture, were friends for many years before one fateful company party changed everything. They danced that night, and from that moment on, they were rarely apart. Their union brought them their greatest joy: their daughter, Ashley Michelle Andrews. Audrey poured her heart and soul into raising Ashley, calling her "round feet" for the way she would carry her everywhere as a baby, never wanting to put her down.
Audrey's love for people was boundless, and her genuine warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She was a remarkable woman-smart, driven, and with a profound sense of integrity. Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but they take comfort in knowing she is now in God's loving arms.
Audrey is survived by her husband, David Nelson Andrews; her daughter, Ashley Michelle Andrews; her sister, Theresa McConnell; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Victor, and her brother-in-law, Mike.
A celebration of Audrey's life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Amity Hospice for the devoted care and comfort they provided during her final days. Audrey's legacy of love, faith, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
