Hartquist Funeral & Cremation Services - Luverne ChapelAudrey Ann Fodness was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Harvey and Cornelia (Pederson) Dye on July 2, 1927. She spent her childhood in Sioux Falls where she graduated from Washington High School in 1945. During high school, Ann worked at Fenn's Ice Cream and Candy. Upon graduation, she and her sister, Jeannette, decided to make the move to St. Paul, Minnesota. While in St. Paul, they worked as telephone operators together. Not too long after the telephone operators went on strike and she and her sister returned to Sioux Falls. While home, Ann went to the Arkota Ballroom and met her future husband, Milo Fodness. Milo asked her for a waltz and the two were smitten with each other. They were united in marriage on December 14, 1947 at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. They made their home Milo's farm near Kenneth, Minnesota and then worked hard together, raising their family, farming and later also operating an auctioneer business. Milo formally retired in 1995 and the couple continued to reside on the acreage. Following Milo's death on December 20, 2005, Ann decided to move into Luverne, Minnesota where she built a home on Christensen Drive.
Ann was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and a past member of Blue Mound Lutheran Church and Kenneth Lutheran Church. She helped as an Altar Guild and enjoyed being a part of her church circle. She loved to dance and enjoyed heading to the ballrooms with Milo in their younger years. She cherished time with her family throughout the years. She enjoyed heading to the shopping mall with her sisters and finding good deals at Younkers. She also enjoyed being able to take care of her own mother as she aged.
Ann is lovingly remembered by her children, Patricia Jensen of Mankato, Minnesota and Gary (Brenda) Fodness of Kenneth; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; her daughter, Roxanne; and her siblings, Violet Dahmen, Marie Moon, Betty Boadway, Jeannette Anderson and George Dye.
