Audrey Page Cox, 100, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Brookdale of Reidsville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Global Methodist Church with Rev. Tim James officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service, beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery.

Audrey was born in Rockingham County to Hubert and Jettie Page. She grew up on a tobacco farm where fruits and vegetables were home grown and canned. Audrey was a child of the great depression and learned to make the most out of what they had. She was right handed but broke her arm when she was a child and learned to use her left hand. As she got older she learned to write in a way that could only be read by holding what was written up to a mirror. She often wrote letters this way to Preston when he was in service. When Preston’s military service was over, the two were married on June 10th, 1946. After they married, Audrey worked at a dry cleaners for a while then worked at an oil company in Virginia. Their only child, Leon, was born May 10th, 1955. She and Preston came back to the farming life and she became a housewife/farm wife. When Leon turned 16 years old he became interested in aviation and started taking flying lessons but did not tell his mother or father. On December 24th, 1971, Leon earned his solo certificate and then informed Audrey of what he had done. We are not allowed to put in print what was said….. However, as time passed, Audrey began to enjoy flying with her son and began to miss flying when Leon went to college. So, at 50 years of age Audrey began flying lessons and made her solo flight on December 24, 1975, exactly 4 years after her son. As the years moved on Jill was born and she became a grandmother. Two years later she welcomed her second grandchild, Pat, and she babysat both grandchildren from infant until their school age years where she bestowed much knowledge and occasionally a little discipline. As time moved on, her husband of 55 years passed away on February 14, 2001. At this time Leon was farming and she continued to help him during harvest time or anytime she was needed. Then Dylan was born and she became a great grandmother. Once again at 82 years old she jumped into action and babysat Dylan from infant until his school age years. At one time, we weren’t sure if Audrey was watching Dylan or if Dylan was watching Audrey. But in the end it all seemed to work out well. Then she welcomed her second great grandchild, Abby, and a little less than two years later her third great grandchild, Hailey. She wasn’t able to spend a lot of time with Abby and Hailey due to them living in Charleston but Audrey looked forward to the visits and made several trips to Charleston for birthdays or special occasions. She also enjoyed her television, watching game shows, sports, and NASCAR- her favorite. Audrey was an avid fan of NASCAR and watched all the races. At 95 years old Audrey realized she could no longer live alone and moved to Brookdale Assisted Living where she would reside until her death.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Franklin Page and Jettie Ellington Page; husband, Willie Preston Cox; and sister, Rebecca Page Jones.

She is survived by her son, Leon Cox and wife Phyllis Webb Cox; grandchildren, Jill Tate and husband John, Pat Alspaugh and husband Alex; great-grandchildren, Dylan Tate, Abby Alspaugh, Hailey Alspaugh, and Holly Tate; brother, Elbert Page; and sister, Hazel French; in addition to numerous other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Globel Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 361 Mt. Carmel Church Rd., Reidsville, NC 27320.
