Audrey Salimeno Dod

Audrey S. Dod passed away at the age of 87 on April 1, 2023 after a brief hospital stay near her new home in Sugar Hill, Georgia. She was surrounded by her loving family who will always cherish her memory.

Born on May 24, 1935, Audrey was the daughter of James Vincent and Hope Dorothea (Phillips) Salimeno. She was married in 1957 to the late Martin J. Dod, Jr. and was a loving mother to the late Susan (Phillip) Van Reen of Mathews, NC, James (Catherine) Dod of Northbrook, IL and Andrew (Susie) Dod of Duluth, GA.

She grew up in Westerly, RI, a proud majorette at Westerly High School and later, a registered nurse after graduating from Rhode Island Hospital's nursing program. She was proud of her profession as an RN, and she worked exclusively in maternity settings in Providence, RI, Kennesaw, GA and Charlotte, NC.

Audrey will be remembered fondly as "Mimi'' by her six grandchildren - Adam (Kristen) and Josh (Rachael) Van Reen, Ryan and Lauren Dod, and Gracie (Brad) Pouliot and Sophie Dod. She adored her growing family which also included six great granddaughters Olivia, Bella, Amelia, Stella, Chloe, and Eden Van Reen and was looking forward to making many memories when she moved to Georgia in January. Although fiercely independent, she kept in close touch with family and friends from Rhode Island throughout her life.

Visiting hours will be from 11:30-12:30 on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home in West Warwick, RI. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation would be appreciated. (https://themmrf.org/get-involved/ways-to-donate/)
