Audrey Bernyce Ballou Gothard, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama and formerly of Clayton, Alabama, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton, Alabama with Rev. Ronald Jernigan officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted.
Audrey was born on April 15, 1935, in Portland, Oregon to the late Walter Grant and Helen Elizabeth Wills Ballou. She was a graduate of Gresham High School in Multnomah, Oregon and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. She met her husband at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama and after her service she became a homemaker, wife, and mother to her six children. She loved planting flowers, drawing, knitting, crocheting, and coloring. Audrey was a member of Rocky Mount Methodist church and loved all her friends there. While a lot less active in her later years she still had plenty of sass. She loved a good hamburger with onions and absolutely loved a box of delicious chocolates.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Charles Frank Gothard; son, Michael Gothard; grandson, Michael Gothard, Jr.; two brothers, Ronald Ballou and Walter Ballou; sister, Marjorie Ingram.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Gothard (Tracy) of Dothan, Alabama and Kevin Gothard of Clayton, Alabama; three daughters, Janet Gardner (James) of Clayton, Alabama, Brenda Hummel (Frank) of Woodinville, Washington, and Karen Hamilton of Montgomery, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jo Gothard; eleven grandchildren, Alyx Moseley (Larry), Eric Parker (Jonni), Christina Jenkins (Harold), Christopher Gardner (Kathleen), Kristen Hummel, Jennie Gothard Domino, Sara Hummel, John Gardner, Amanda Gothard, Rachel Hopper (Barrett), Andrew Gothard; twelve great-grandchildren, Wyatt Downing, Christen Downing, Nash Downing, Aiden Domino, Logan Moseley, Hailey Domino, Charlie Parker, Griffin Moseley, Nohea Kirschling, Konrad Gardner, Layla Gothard, and Everly Claire Henderson.
