Audrey Louise (Lape) Althoff, born on August 9, 1957 in Utica, NY, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in Liverpool, NY. She leaves behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to education.
A pillar in the East Syracuse-Minoa School District, Audrey devoted 27 years of her life to teaching special education. Her nurturing spirit and fervent advocacy for her students remained evident until her retirement from Bishop Grimes in 2014. Audrey's impact on countless lives will be remembered by both students and colleagues alike.
Educated with passion, she graduated from Sauquoit Valley High School, furthering her studies with a bachelor's degree from Utica College and a master's degree from SUNY Oswego. Her educational journey not only equipped her with knowledge but also instilled in her the values she would share with her students and family.
Audrey is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Erin (Domenick) Salidu; two sons, Eric and Adam Althoff; her mother, Sara (Harwick) Lape; brother, Harvey Lape; and her cherished grandchildren, Armando and Noah Salidu.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Lape.
As we reflect on Audrey's life, we celebrate her remarkable contributions to education, her nurturing spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
