Audrey W Schulz

Our mother died at home, August 14, just a couple weeks before her 98 th birthday, of
complications from COPD and heart problems. But despite those medical issues, she still had a
perfect memory and mental clarity right up till her last day. We are all so grateful for our time
with her and being able to enjoy get-togethers with family and friends.
Audrey was born in Detroit, Michigan. She married Richard Arbib, an industrial designer, and
lived in New York. They had one son, Richard Arbib, who is a local writer here in Reno. Later,
she married Hans Von Nolde, a news photographer for Associated Press. They had one son, John
Von Nolde, who is a local realtor here in Reno. She has two grandsons, J.J. Von Nolde and
Nicklaus Von Nolde. Both produce movies in Los Angeles. She has four nieces in Michigan:
Lisa, Peggy, Nancy, and Emily. She has one nephew in New York, Michael.
She had many friends in the Reno area, where she lived continuously since 1968. In the 1970s,
she worked at Weinstock's in Park Lane Mall, then later, for the Washoe County School District.
She loved all animals, especially the German Shepherds she had throughout her life.
Her passing leaves a big hole in the lives of those who loved her. She will be missed by all of us
as we remember the good times we had together. One of my favorite writers, Theophile Gautier,
wrote: "No one is truly dead until they are no longer loved." She is still loved by many of us. She
lives on in our memories. We will meet again in the afterlife.
Her funeral service will be at Mountain View Mortuary on Wednesday, August 30, at 12 noon.
Afterwards, there will be a reception at the home of Audrey Schulz.
