Audrey Annette Van Doren, 81, passed away on June 24, 2025 in McLoud, OK. She was born on August 6, 1943 to Aubrey and Vera Mae (Kennard) Hood in Risco, MO. She married Dwayne Van Doren on July 22, 1961 in Bethany, OK.
In 1974 Annette suffered two major strokes which left her completely numb on her right side. She had to relearn how to do everything; however, she had such a strong fighting spirit in her that she would not give up. So, she fought hard to recover and raised her two boys and later babysat her young grandson.
Annette loved the Lord. She enjoyed sharing the Gospel, spending time with loved ones, going out and meeting new people. She loved to read, laugh, dance, and play games on her phone – particularly mahjong, solitaire, and hidden objects. She also got a great kick out of picking on others and being picked on – of course, this was all in good fun. She loved spending the holidays with family, making her famous pumpkin bread and cranberry tokay. She was a devoted parent and grandparent. She was kind and loving, and made friends with everyone she met.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Vera Mae; beloved spouse of 47 years, Dwayne; and sisters, Sarah Lillian Owen, Barbara Jean Atkins, Naomi Aileen Mitchell, Mary Helen Young, and Margaret Geraldine.
She is survived by sons, Perry Van Doren and his wife Laura of McLoud, OK, and Donald Van Doren of McLoud, OK; one grandson, Micheal Fogle of Bethany, OK; brother, Charles Harmon Hood of Hugo, OK; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2:00pm at The Fellowship at Western Oaks, 7901 NW 16th Street, Oklahoma City, OK.

I remember Annette was always very nice and my mom Iona and her got along well. I remember babysitting my Neice Wynter for a couple hours when I was 17 and she had a small poop so I laid her down on the bed to change her. I was taking off her diaper when she EXPLODED and poop shot all the way across the bed onto the floor. I called Annette because that was beyond what I could do and she came right over and did it for me. Saved the day. There are many stories of her stepping up that is just one of my favorites
