Mrs. Audry Fay Showers Snell

Mrs. Audry Fay Showers Snell (Ellen) was born on December 29, 1934 to the late Frank & Eva Stewart Showers. Audry Fay trusted Jesus Christ as her savior when she was 14 years old while attending Taylor Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Simpson, County. She was one of 15 children. It was her goal to further her education and she completed her GED in 1979.
Audry moved to Chicago in the early 1950s. She was employed at a local bakery where she perfected her cooking skills. She loved to bake and was an excellent cook. The love she had for cooking was passed down to her children.
In Chicago, she became re-acquainted with Clevie F Snell and they were married in 1955. On the 19th day of January 1958, Clevie F Snell was born again and called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1963, God placed on his heart to move his young family from Chicago back to Mississippi.
In Mississippi, Audry Snell was loved by many, she worked for McCarty Holman for many years in the delicatessen and retired in 1996. She also enjoyed cooking delicious food for family and friends.
Audry was known by everyone as having a quiet, strong and gentle spirit. As 1st Lady, she faithfully served in various capacities at both Mt. Wade Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove M.B Church, pastored by her late husband, the Rev Clevie F Snell.
She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir during the early years of the ministry. And through her service and support many people gave their life to Jesus Christ.
She absolutely loved her family. But God loved her more, and she went to be with the Lord, in her eternal home on February 4, 2022.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Clevie Snell (Robin), Adrienne Snell Barnes (Sherman), Carl Snell (Valerie), Ezra Snell (Donna), Titus Snell (Deidra). Two daughters proceeded her in death, Mary Coleman and Eva Walker. She has three siblings Earlean Mack (Richmond, CA), Roy Showers (St. Louis, MO) and Larry Showers (Rose), New Hebron, MS). She had twenty-one grandkids, thirty great grands and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Audry Fay Showers Snell will begin on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Peoples Funeral Home, 886 North Farish Street, Jackson, Mississippi from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Graveside Funeral services for Mrs. Audry Fay Showers Snell will be at Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 West Northside Drive, Jackson, Mississippi on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
