August James Schoenemann of Brenham, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the age of 69.
James was born in Brenham on November 5, 1955 to Herbert and Rosa Lampe Schoenemann and was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn on December 5, 1955.
James was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn on April 15, 1973 and was a life long member there. His confirmation verse was John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Preceding James in death were his parents, Herbert and Rosa Schoenemann and his brother-in-law, Fred Schwartz.
James is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Glenn Brenner and Jo Ann Schwartz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Greg (Erin) Brenner, Lisa (Danny) Steck, Jeff (Sharon) Schwartz, Amy Jeter, Hanna (Trevor) Glenz and Logan Schwartz (fiancé Kaylie Zapalac). Great nieces and nephews include Matthew Steck (fiancé Sydney Yglecias), Madison Brenner, Claire Brenner, Lily Brenner, Morgan Steck and Allison Jeter, and one great-great niece, Payton Rose Glenz.
A visitation with James' family is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 10202 FM 1935, Brenham, with Pastor Kelly Krieg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers for James will be his nephews and nieces and other family members.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Brenham Health Care for their care and support of James for the past several months. Also special gratitude to Brazos Valley Hospice for their care and support during his stay at the nursing home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn.
