Augustino Frank Bitetto

Augustino Frank Bitetto, 79, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

He was a Lieutenant in New York City Fireman for 23 years. He was also in the National Guard Air Force for 23 years. His interests were making stained glass, wood working, building and fixing anything he could. He restored antiques. Liked to play golf.

Will be remembered as a wonderful and caring husband, father, and grandfather and a devout Catholic, He was the calm in any room. He was understated but lived by a strong work ethic and had a great sense of humor. He was always there for his family and friends in anything they needed. He was very active with his church, St. Catherine's of Siena, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Tunnel to Towers. He was an active volunteer for all these organizations but was particularly passionate about Tunnels to Towers. He volunteered and traveled with the organization as a speaker for their mobile exhibit talking about the history of the World Trade Center and the sacrifices that were made during 9/11. I'll send a picture separately for that if it can be used in any way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeanette Bitetto, his brother Frank Bitetto, and sister Rose Menagh.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Bitetto, two daughters Beth Capeles and Tara McGarrigle. 5 grandchildren Sophia, Haley, and Aiden Capeles and Alex and Siena McGarrigle.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587.

A memorial mass will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at St. Catherine's of Siena Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church memorial garden, 520 W. Holding Ave. Wake Forest, NC 27587.
