Aura Geordine Wetzbarger, a beloved Sunday School teacher, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully transformed into the eternal embrace of the Lord on October 29, 2025, following a courageous battle with a long illness. Born on May 28, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was the cherished daughter of Charles and Minnie Ullrick.
Geordine's heart, overflowing with warmth and kindness, found its greatest expression in her 60-year dedication to teaching Sunday School to children of all ages. Her friendly, outgoing, and encouraging personality drew people to her, creating an environment that was both welcoming and inspiring. It was her profound love for the Lord Jesus Christ that illuminated her path and that she lovingly shared with everyone she encountered. She thrived in the company of her family, cherishing each moment spent together and imparting wisdom and love to the generations that followed.
As a devoted housewife and a nurturing mother of three, Geordine instilled in her children the values of compassion, faith, and perseverance. She leaves behind her son, Raymond Dean (Angie) Wetzbarger of Grand Junction, Colorado, and her daughter, Vivian Lee (Steve) Green of Rangely, Colorado. Her legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren: Stephen Shanks, Kamara Shanks, Karissa Shanks, James (Donna) Shanks, Joseph Wetzbarger, Sarah Wetzbarger, Bethany Green, Zachary Green (Sarah), and Danna (Ryan) Huitt, along with 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Geordine is reunified with her late husband, Virgil Raymond, her eldest daughter, Virginia Lynn Heinrick, her parents, and her siblings, making her the last member of her immediate family. The bonds she formed in life will be remembered as precious threads woven into the fabric of her family's history, a testament to the enduring love and strength she imparted to those fortunate enough to call her family.
Her life will be celebrated during a Memorial Service on November 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM, held at Brown's Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel in Grand Junction, Colorado. Following the memorial, friends and family are invited to a Graveside Service at New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado, at 1:00 PM to pay their final respects.
Geordine Wetzbarger’s legacy of faith, love, and family will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories, a life beautifully lived, and countless lives forever touched by her nurturing spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones.
