Dr. Aurelio M Valente, 56, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Born in Sao Mamede, Portugal, he was the son of Alcides Valente and Albina (Vicente) Valente and loving husband to Dorian Cornelius.
Aurelio was the Regional Assistant Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Studies for the University of South Florida at the St. Petersburg campus. Previously, he served as the Executive Director of Strategy and Operations for the Undergraduate College at National Louis University where he also served as the founding Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. Upon finishing his Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering at UMass Dartmouth, Aurelio went on to complete his Master of Business Administration at Suffolk University and his Master of Education, a Administration of Higher Education at UMass Dartmouth. Ultimately receiving his Doctor of Education, Higher Education of Administration from Florida State University where he received the Melvene Draheim Hardee Fellow award for academic achievement.
Aurelio is survived by his husband, Dorian Cornelius; parents, Alcides and Albina Valente; his brother, Luis Valente, and his wife Donna; nephew and godson, Benjamin Valente; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends.
A visitation will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14 th from 8-10am. His Funeral Mass will be held immediately following at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 11am. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
