Austin Keith Hutto, 83, born on January 14, 1941, in Houston, TX, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 in Houston, TX.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, George Austin and Dapholine Louise Hutto. He is survived by his brother, Darrell Lynn Hutto and sister-in-law Mary Hutto, nephew Ross Hutto and wife Juanita, niece Kyndal Hutto and nephew Kai Hutto. He is also survived by his cousin Barbara Crook, his faithful housekeeper and aide Jessica Walker, and many family members and friends.
Keith graduated Sam Houston High School and subsequently joined the United States Air Force serving from 1963 – 1967. He spent the next forty years in the family furniture business, Hutto's Furniture Shop. After retirement, Keith became known as The Cookie Man at Brookdale Independent Living Memorial City where he lived for the past four years. He never met a stranger and loved handing out cookies, candies, and holiday treats to the Memorial City residents and employees.
Keith was very proud to be a native Houstonian and Texan, and he supported Houston and the University of Texas sports teams. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne and other classic movies and sharing Sunday morning breakfasts with his best friend Mark "Bubba" Marbury.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 A.M. at Brookside Memorial Park, 13401 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
