Avery “Sue” Brooks of Morristown, TN passed away on November 9th, 2025 at the age of 81. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown. Sue was born on June 18th, 1944 to Edith and Lantie Bell and was the youngest of seven children. She grew up in White Pine and graduated from White Pine High School in 1962. As a young woman, she spent time working at American Enka and later in her life she worked and retired from The Citizen Tribune. She made many friends along the way. Her biggest accomplishment though was the many years she spent as a loving housewife and mother. She loved her family and friends and her favorite pastime was spending time with them. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was so proud of her daughter and grandson. They were the light of her life and she talked about them all the time. She was known and loved for her beautiful smile and her sweet and spunky personality. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Lantie and Edith Bell; brothers, Eugene, Lloyd, and Theodore Bell; sisters, Bonnie Lou Moore and Joann Jenkins and former husband Carl Brooks. She is survived by her daughter, Carla (Tony) Bradley; grandson, Matt (Macy) Bradley; brother, Troy Bell; nephews, Lantie (Yvonne) Bell, Chris (Mary) Bell and Jim Bell; and best friend of 61 years, Sue Givens along with a host of other nieces, nephews, family members, and special friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12th from 4-6 PM at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, November 13th at 11 AM at White Pine Cemetery with pastor JW Taylor officiating. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Signature Lifestyles, and The Serenity House for the wonderful care they provided her in her final days.
