I didn't know Avery all too well. He was a grade or two above me growing up, and we interacted only a small bit. But I remember one time as a kid he and I were jumping on and balancing on these wooden pikes dug into the ground at recess. A teacher told us not to do that, and that she has eyes in the back of her head. So of course when she turned around, we just looked at each other and jumped on them again while making faces at her.

Avery was the first person at stadium systems to really reach out to me when I knew no one there, we became friends very quickly. We would go to McDonald´s for lunch together and eventually we started hanging out, outside of work. He invited me to my first ever Halloween party and the last time I hung out with him we went to Harry Potter trivia night with our friends. He was such a fun and wonderful person to be around. He will be deeply missed.
