Avery Roman, 18, a loving brother, son, grandson and a good-hearted man passed away on Feb. 26, 2021. He was born on Feb. 28, 2002, in Pueblo, Colo., to Hermilo Roman (Stephanie) and Jacqueline Rivas. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Crestino Valdez, Hermilo and Erlinda Roman, John "J.R." Rivas, Tony and Lorraine Musso and Albert Montelongo. He attended Central High School and was part of the graduating class of 2020. He was attending college at MSU in Denver before his passing. Avery's life had many twists and turns in it that would make it difficult for many, but for him, he always came out with a bright smile on his face and a will for others. He had a deep love for baseball his whole life and played through his high school years as a Central Wildcat, pushing his team to improve and to help one another. His passion to help others went further than the dugout and spread to anyone who needed it, fellow students, people that needed a hand or his family. He would do what he could to help anyone in their time of need. He joined the STARS mentor program/FRIENDS FIRST in high school to help other students and reach out and to touch the lives of others. He strived to become someone that others could rely on for whatever they needed. Many people knew him for his humor, kind soul, incredible smile, beautiful hair and human spirit. Avery is survived by his parents, Hermilo and Stephanie Roman; his siblings, Peyton, Ben and Ruby; loving girlfriend, Leah Cordova; grandparents, Richard (Irene Otero) Roman, Valerie (Wade Decker) Valdez, Gary (Karen) Rivas, Jackie (Dan) Urenda, Diana (Carlos) Montelongo and Lionel (Diana) Trujillo; great-grandparents, Clara Rivas and Viola Valdez; aunts and uncles, Richard (Jodie) Roman, Renae Roman, Chris (Kayla) Rivas and Linus Trujillo; cousins, Rowan, Harlow, Sawyer, Alyssa, Ryan, Daisy and Asher; numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
