B.F. Hunter, age 88, of Baxley passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Mr. Hunter was born February 3, 1937 in Appling County to the late Henry Edison Hunter and the late Luna Carter Hunter. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was a Poultry Producer for Claxton Poultry for 64 years. He was a loving father and devoted grandfather, who especially enjoyed giving hugs and “kisses” to his great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Nelray Dunn Hunter; five sisters, four brothers and a great-granddaughter, Hadley Brooke Beasley.

Survivors include his daughter, Toni (William) Cain of Baxley; sons, Jimmy (Janine) Hunter and Michael Hunter all of Baxley; brother, Milton (JoAnn) Hunter of Baxley; grandchildren, Blake (Caitlyn) Cain, Jamie (Grant) Beasley, Amanda (Justin) Goodman, James (Torie) Hunter, Rachael (James, Jr.) Cook, and Joshua (Carrie) Hunter; and great grandchildren, Baylor Cain, Averie Cain, Raelan Beasley, Lizzy Beasley, Hughston Beasley, Abe Goodman, Rafe Goodman, Jax Henry Hunter, Elisende Cook, Aaralyn Cook, Trey Cook, and J.C. Hunter (September 2025).

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Williamson, Rev. Steve Meguiar and Rev. Ron Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Blake Cain, James Hunter, Joshua Hunter, Justin Goodman, Grant Beasley, and James Cook, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be all past and present Broiler Division Service Techs of Claxton Poultry, Employees of Hospice of South Georgia, Caregivers Mr. Charles Coley and Mrs. Kathy Solomon, and all family and friends in attendance.

The visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
