Bailey’s memorial service is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. There will be visitation prior starting at 11:30 a.m. Burial to take place at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, after the services. Lisa Bassingthwaite will officiate.
Bailey Jo Bernstein was born November 15, 2002, to Jon and Christy Bernstein. In her twenty short years, she made a permanent and loving impact on every member of her family, along with everyone she called “friend.” She graduated from Wahpeton Senior High in 2021. Bailey pursued nursing and occupational therapy at NDSCS and her desire to care for others influenced everything she did her entire life.
She was an amazing and competitive athlete. She loved hockey, track, and just about any other sport you can think of. She had a passion for bow hunting and was convinced that the secret to deer showing up at the blind was due to the pickles she brought with her each and every time, whether she was hunting with her dad or by herself.
Bailey truly loved her family. She looked forward to family get-togethers whether it was fifty cousins, or just having a bonfire in the back yard with her mom, dad, and brother. She cherished time with her friends, and her personality made others want to be with her. She especially loved spending time with her boyfriend, Nicholas.
Everyone that had the privilege of knowing Bailey, knew of how much she loved those around her, and what a caring soul she had. Bailey’s life didn’t come to an end when she passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023. She was passionate about being an organ and tissue donor, and her incredible legacy goes on through all of the people who were helped by her last selfless gift of caring.
Bailey was a rule breaker! She would have liked that in the last hour of her life, her family convinced the nurses to “bend” the rules and allow eleven family members in her room all at once instead of following the hospital rule of just two visitors. Even more, she would have loved that her family surrounded her and shared Bailey stories with each other, though she surely would have had a sarcastic comment or two for a few of the stories.
Bailey leaves behind her family; parents, Jon and Christy along with her brother Trevor. Her grandparents; Richard and Lynette Still, David Bernstein, Beth and Mike Delfs; her aunts, uncles, and their children, Chris Olmstead and Amy Bernstein, Corey and Allison Still with their children Lily, Kinley, Torii, and Kenton, Robert, and Carrie Bernstein and their children Xander, Kasen and Kailee. She also leaves behind her boyfriend, Nicholas Larson and many other cousins and countless friends.
