Bailey Thomas Obituary
He was born in Lee County, NC on November 15, 1946 to the late Bailey Thomas, Jr. and Nora Thomas Gunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Bailey Thomas Sr. and Gertrude Thomas and brother Gerald Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Brenda Harrison Thomas; son Scott Thomas (Christy) of Sanford daughter Tina Spurlock (William) of Dayton, Ohio; grandson Jeff Norris of Akron, Ohio; granddaughters Kimbery Hamlett (Jason) of Leland, NC, Brittany Stovall (Javon) of Dayton Ohio, Taft Cummings of Sanford, NC; sister-in-law Thelma Thomas of Sanford; step-great-granddaughters Taylor Wilder and Leanna Wilder; step-great-grandsons Ian Hamlett and Lucas Hamlett of Leland, NC; brothers Danny Thomas (Linda), David Thomas (Melissa) all of Sanford; sisters Linda Vance (Roger), Lucy Clewis (Harold) all of Sanford.
Billy graduated from Benhaven School in the Class of 1965 and served our country in the United States Army. He worked for Long Meadow, W.L. Jewell and retired from David H. Simpson Construction Company as a Superintendent. He was a faithful member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and Deacon. Billy will be missed by all his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Danny Redman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the services and other times at the family home.
