Mrs. Barbara Allen Hayes, age 87, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Monday, May 5, 2025 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was a native of Marshall County, the Caney Spring Community, and a daughter of the late Harvey Oslin Allen and Rebecca Doss Allen. Mrs. Barbara was a retired educator, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lewisburg, TN, and a graduate of the Class of 1956 at Forrest High School. She was also a member of the Marshall County Retired Teachers Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, John Franklin Hayes in 2011, sisters, Mayna Laws Moses, Eva Doss Allen, and a nephew, John Harvey Moses.
Mrs. Barbara had a wonderful career teaching children for over 40 years. She loved her social time and luncheons with the Marshall County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed her dogs, Bonnie, Chelsea, and Bailey Jean. She had a passion for reading and visiting with her friends and family. Most of all she loved her children and participating in life’s activities with them.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her 2 daughters, Suzanne Hayes and Emily Hayes of Lewisburg, TN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Allen Cemetery with Danny Brown officiating for family and close friends. Interment will follow in Allen Cemetery in the Caney Spring Community of Marshall County, TN.
