Barbara "Barb" H. Christensen, 86, of Jefferson, SD, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Barb, the daughter of Carrol and Mae (Bartlett) Berry, was born on March 27, 1939, in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up on a farm in the Sioux Falls area, where she developed a deep appreciation for family and community. After completing her high school education, Barb married Alfred Christensen in Hartford, SD, and together they raised two children.

Barb and Alfred's life journey took them from Sioux Falls to El Cajon (San Diego) and ultimately back to make their home in Jefferson. Throughout her career, Barb was known for her dedication and hard work. She began her professional journey at Northwest Bell, working for several years before retirement. Following her time with the telephone company, she worked at Gateway Computers for a few years.

Barb was a selfless person, loved by all who knew her. Her warm and welcoming personality drew people to her, and she cherished the relationships she built over the years. As a devoted family member, she found joy in hosting family holidays and cooking for her loved ones. Her greatest pride was in her family, which she lovingly nurtured through every stage of life.

An active member of Riverside Lutheran Church, Barb was involved in various church activities, including the quilting group and Women’s Circle.

Barb had a passion for animals and enjoyed assisting Al with their racehorses. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling and seeing different areas.

Barb is survived by her son, Todd (Sharon) Christensen of Jefferson, SD; four grandchildren: Shannon Christensen (Travis Bartling) of Sioux City, IA, Ragean (Omar) Terry of Sioux Falls, SD, Jason (Jessica) Christensen of Jefferson, SD, and Rachel Elizondo of Sioux Falls, SD; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Charlene) Berry of Sioux Falls, SD; and a brother-in-law, Curt Beevers of Santa Fe, NM. In addition, she is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred; and her daughter Tammy Miller, along with her three sisters: Elsie Beevers, June (Melvin) Carsrud, and Jean Berry.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all of Barb's medical caregivers for their wonderful care, with special thanks to Dr. Luqman and his staff at Renal Associates in Dakota Dunes.

A memorial service celebrating Barb's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
