Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home - DecaturBarbara Darlene Black, 80, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on July 21, 1945 in St. Louis County, Missouri to the late Olan Johnston and Ina (Palmer) Ortt.
She was united in marriage to Terry Black on September 24, 1970 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana.
Darlene worked at Woodcrest, Adams Memorial Hospital, and Golden Meadows until her retirement.
Darlene enjoyed going back to the river with her husband Terry. She loved feeding the fish and birds down by the pond every night. She loved all animals. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing with Terry. She looked forward going to the lake in Michigan every year with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Black of Decatur, Indiana; son, Sam (June) Anderson of Greensburg, Kentucky; brother, Ray Johnston of Greensburg, Kentucky; sister, Jeanie Murphy of Van Wert, Ohio; grandchildren, Brandi (Jeremy) Wells, Jacob (Crystal) Anderson, Meria Rauch, and Brittani (Corey) Robbins; niece and caregiver, Jodi (Kevin) Cook of Monroe, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mandi Haslett; two brothers, Robert Woods and Bud Palmer; sister, Carol Bayless; and brother-in-law, John Black.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Tricker Cemetery in Monroe, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Preferred memorials can be given to the family, checks payable to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
