Barbara Bolwin Obituary
Barbara was a long time participant in just about every activity offered by the Tri-County/NWC Special Recreation Association. Barbara's favorite activities included yearly proms, country western dances, Family Christmas parties, the yearly Christmas Dinner Dance, Halloween parties, baseball games, movies and lunches, weekly bowling, Family Bingo, and the Special Olympics. Barbara also enjoyed special trips with the SRA which included Hawaii, Dollywood, Disneyland, and Mount Rushmore. A highlight for Barbara was receiving The Georgia Wilson Award, a special recognition at the yearly dinner dance award ceremony in 2013. The SRA provided Barbara so much joy and happiness throughout her many years participating in their programs.
Barbara remembered everyone's birthday and especially looked forward to hers and reminded everyone well in advance. Every holiday was special to Barbara, especially Christmas and Halloween. Barbara would ask to be dressed as a clown each year but was convinced to be other things, including a bumble bee, a lady bug, a witch, etc. Barbara loved the magic of Christmas and shared that with her family. She knew many, many Christmas Carols and sang them to her family throughout the season.
Family was so important to Barbara's happiness. She looked forward to many different family events and gatherings, which included weddings, holiday get togethers, playing games, sister trips, birthday dinners, and annual trips to Florida. Barbara made every event special for her family and will be missed greatly.
Visitation Thursday November 6, 2025, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Anderson Memorial Chapel 606 Townhall Dr. Romeoville, IL. with chapel service Friday November 7, 2025 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.
